Sioned Thomas
RIBA, BArch, BsC(Hons) Architecture
Sioned qualified at Cardiff University in 1985 and went on to work in Welsh Local authorities where she was responsible for an award winning elderly housing scheme and major leisure centres. Sioned then moved to Company of Designers in Bristol where she was the project architect for housing schemes and leisure facilities including Bankole Self Build and the Sidmouth Swimming Pool.
Sioned established Alexander & Thomas in 1992 and has managed a wide variety of projects since then including numerous grant assisted works in association with local authorities. She has developed an expertise in the field of access and disability.
Sioned is a native Welsh speaker, a member of the Community Self Build Agency and has carried out schools education projects with the local branch of the Royal Institute of British Architects. Until recently she was a parent governor of a local school.
Hugh Alexander
RIBA, DipArch, BA(Hons) Architecture
After qualifying at Bristol University in 1985, Hugh worked in London and Bristol on major commercial projects, both traditional and design build. Before joining Sioned Thomas to form Alexander & Thomas in 1992, Hugh worked for four years at Feilden Clegg (now Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios) where he was project architect for the Kingsmead Neighbourhood Development Scheme in Bath.
This community based housing scheme involved planning and rebuilding existing streets, gardens and flats, and won Community and Housing Design Awards.
Hugh is particularly interested in ‘green’ building techniques and was for many years a member of a local multi-disciplinary professional Green Forum. He has been a member of the Bristol Harbourside Forum, a Committee Member of the Bristol and Bath Society of Architects. He has also served on the Easton Community Association Management Committee and been treasurer to the Totterdown Area Community Association in Bristol.
